Crawford Fund Conference
Agriculture and food security experts have appealed to governments, non-governmental organisations, the private sector, research institutes and consumers: work together to deliver sustainable food security solutions for the world.
The Crawford Fund’s 2015 Annual Parliamentary Conference, with the theme of “The Business of Food Security”, gathered agricultural researchers, private industry and government together at Parliament House in Canberra in August to discuss the future of world security.
Visy executive chairman Anthony Pratt, in his speech, noted there was growing demand for sustainable solutions and increased innovation in food production. Waste reduction, including water reuse and recycling, were just some of the solutions Visy had implemented to create more sustainable options in food manufacturing.
The announcement by Anthony Pratt of a new packaging centre of excellence in India would help the South Asian country implement manufacturing changes to reduce waste and improve the quality of food on the market.
“It’s about creating a better world for everyone”, he said. Anthony wholeheartedly believes that the right blend of science, business and collaborative innovation can help solve global food security.
